Lawrence Cook
Called upon as a problem solver and technical innovator, Lawrence Cook brings to his teaching, over 25 years of working in the commercial and artistic fields of photography. He has worked extensively with a wide range of high profile shooters, including Arnaud Maggs and Chris Wahl, while also producing both commissioned and personal work. This extensive knowledge base, combined with the skills to share it, make him a valuable and unique resource for lighting, camera techniques and advanced photographic studio methods in every conceivable set of conditions. .

Randy Innes
Randy Innes completed his PhD in Visual and Cultural Studies at the University of Rochester in 2009. He has studied the history and theory of photography as a cultural object and practice, with particular
attention to the place of photography between romanticism and
modernism. As a research fellow at the National Gallery of Canada Randy studied a selection of nineteenth century photographs and
photographically illustrated books. Recent teaching has included a
study of Barthes' writings on the photographic image for the Cultural
Studies program at Trent University; and he recently taught a course on
the History and Theory of Photography, and a graduate course on the
role of Curiosity and Wonder in the history of museum practices at
Carleton University's School for Studies in Art and Culture.

Angelina McCormick
A SPAO Portfolio Program graduate with highest honours, Angelina has studied with both SPAO directors and developed impressive printing techniques in both the darkroom and digital media. She focuses on portraiture, personal projects and fine art printing in her own practice.
A 2006 Canadian Applied Arts Student Award winner, she has a wide spectrum of talent to share with her students including strong commercial work and reduction printing.
Recently, some of her fine artwork and portraiture have graced the cover of Kathleen Edwards CD "Asking for Flowers", and have been featured in Guerilla Magazine.

Michael Schreier
Former Director of Visual Arts at the University of Ottawa, Michael Schreier, Professional Artist, Photographer, has dedicated his considerable professional career, from 1972 to the present, to the celebration of both the public and private hero. Recent work includes Concert with the Silent Witness, a collection of both Ottawaand trans-Canada street portraits, celebrating the presence of the anonymous individual. Selected works are represented both in public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, CanadianMuseum of Contemporary Photography, National Archives Photography Collection, the Agnes-EtheringtonArt Centre, Canadian Portrait Gallery, Visual Studies Workshop,( Rochester, New York ), Carleton University Art Gallery, and the University of Ottawa Library Special Collections.

Khalia Scott
Khalia is co-founder and director of the School of the Photographic Arts; Ottawa, and instructs there in the full time Portfolio Program while curating SPAO’s Red Wall Gallery and programming its associated events and productions. Khalia is president and co-founder of X Ottawa Photography Festival and the head of its programming committee, and sits on the board of the Byward Market BIA. Her photographic work can be found in private collections in both the U.S. and Canada.

Michael Tardioli
For almost 20 years, Michael Tardioli has been a professional, award-winning photographer in the Ottawa region. He has had extensive experience in all aspects of high-end image capture and production, and is a nationally recognized master printer in both the analogue and digital media. A former professor at Algonquin College, and profiled educator in the Ilford/Harmon Fall 2007 publication, Michael co-founded SPAO to create an intensive photographic experience for those seeking to hone their skills or pursue an artistic or professional photographic practice.

Valérie Yobé
A long time traveller, Valérie Yobé lives with passion and looks for inspiration in whatever she pursues. After a first decade in advertising in France, she moved to Montréal and did a Masters in Communications and went into media research. Love brought her to Ottawa where she re-invented herself around graphic design, a discipline with which she has developed a long-term relationship. She owns her own graphic design studio that serves cultural and artistic clientele including museums. She also cherishes different teaching positions such as Graphic Design at the University of Québec in Outaouias, and diverse classes and projects at SPAO such as : Portfolio Design, Point of sale, and creating Push/Pull the first magazine produced by SPAO and created by its students. Valérie was also involved in creating the identity for X Ottawa Photography Festival. In addition to these activities, she is currently writing for her PHD in Semiology at the University of Québec in Montréal.
