Photography I - Introduction

January 11th - March 21st, 2012
Wednesday 6:00pm - 9:00pm
11 Sessions - 33 Hours
David Elden | $349.00
Level : Basic

Course Description
Try your hand at the most classic and timeless of the photographic media. David Elden will guide students through basic monochrome photographic processes as well as some of the wealth of controls available to aid in the production of expressive and beautiful prints. Discover why this enduring form of photography is now a premium medium for fine art prints and up-market advertising.

Film choices, exposure and processing, printing (enlarging) and print finishing will all be covered using a mix of classroom sessions and hands-on work in the darkroom. Exercises and production will use the students' own images and lead them to the next steps to developing their photographic voice.

Darkroom chemistry is included in the tuition fee for this course. Students must purchase their own film and photographic paper and have their own manual 35 mm film camera. This is a basic level course and teaches fundamentals necessary for other SPAO courses and workshops. Enrolment is limited to ensure one-on-one attention.
